On Thursday, December 11th 1997, Downham witnessed the opening of a brand new IT Suite exclusively for young people. Situated in a specially adapted room within Downham Library, the Youth Space was set up in response to the wants and needs of the local young people. With the help of local MP Bridget Prentice and Young Downham youth group member Kim (pictured), the Youth IT Space was opened in conjunction with the celebration of Downham Library's 60th birthday. |
Ever since the
opening, young Downham people have been streaming into
the Youth IT Space - so much so that we are having to
turn people away from some of the sessions! The Youth IT
Space is open to all young people between the ages of 7
and 18 (who either live or go to school in the Downham
area) and is open during normal Downham Library
hours.Throughout the morning and the afternoon, the Youth
Space caters for the needs of the local
schools. After
school and on Saturdays, the Youth Space is open on a
drop-in basis. To use the facilities you will need to book
a time slot in advance.
