London Grid for Learning On Line Community (LGfL)

All 33 London Boroughs have formed a Regional Broadband Group called the London Grid for Learning (LGfL) in order to collaborate to bring down the price of Internet infrastructure and electronic services for all London LEAs.

Digitalbrain won the contract to provide the portal for LGfL. This will provide all London pupils and teachers with an individual e-mail address, together with conferencing and web site facilities. It will allow teachers to create 'virtual classrooms' and pupils to have their own 'virtual classroom space'. Pupils and teachers will be able to log on to their own individual 'digitalbrain' where they will access learning materials, library facilities and resources, store their work and share what they are doing, not only in their school, but with pupils, teachers and parents across London. Pupils will be able to access their own 'digitalbrain' outside school, allowing learning to continue beyond the school.

Guidance for schools involvement in the LGfL is currently being drafted and will be made available as soon as possible. Copies of all relevant correspondence sent to schools to date and issues related to connectivity can be found at: http://ecs.lewisham.gov.uk/ictadvice/technical

Lewisham teachers have been developing a Community Portal for all subject areas at this address:
