The Lewisham FITS pilot 2005 to 2006
About the project
In 2005 it was decided to pilot the implementation of FITS – the Framework for ICT Support – programme in a few (self-selected) Lewisham schools. The FITS programme has been designed to help schools manage their ICT technical support in a strategic and logical way, and has been distilled from 20 years’-worth of experience in the commercial sector.
The result was a success, as measured both in statistical terms and anecdotally. So much so, in fact, that we’re running a revised version of it with another batch of schools.
Even if your school is not taking part, do take time to read the information on these pages, especially the case studies. It’s easy to dismiss government-backed programmes on the grounds that “they” don’t understand what daily life in school is like. But our experience in Lewisham shows that the FITS approach has been so well thought-out that it does work – in real schools!
