CHILDHOOD IN JAMAICA

What were schools like in Jamaica?

Schools were good in Jamaica but they didn't have chairs and tables. They had long benches. We didn't have many books either. You had to buy your own books. But learning was considered very important.

What was it like to be a little boy?

I had to get up at 6.00am to do my jobs like feed chickens etc. Then I had to go to school. If I didn't do the work I would get spanked. You couldn't just go to the shops and buy a cricket set , you had to make your own.
