Action Group for the Elderly (DAGE)
-
Registered Charity No. 269672
On 2nd June 2008, the anniversary
of
Her Majesty The Queen's Coronation,
it was announced that DAGE
was one of 79 voluntary groups across the UK to be chosen for
The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service
to recognise those in our group, and to quote the Queen's Award website,
"giving their time freely for the benefit of others",
and this "is the highest honour that can be bestowed
upon groups of this kind and is equivalent in status to the MBE".

This popular charity has been relaunched in 2000
to help pensioners combat social isolation,
get help and advice from the Pension Service, Police, Fire Brigade,
NHS opticians and health promotion specialists,
and to provide a place where older people can meet each other daily
and hear the tunes they've grown up with over refreshments.
