On December 15th Laura Antheunis from the Lewisham Young Womens Resource Project and Raissa Uwineza and Scott Cullen from Year 10, Malory Secondary School took part in an online bullying debate. They spent all day responding to the messages that arrived from Lewisham pupils.
Hi,
I'm Scott and I am an Anti Bullying Counsellor at Malory School.
On the 15th December 1998 myself and Raissa were answering questions
on bullying. People around Lewisham have been sending their questions
by e-mail to us. We have been here all day and answered around 15
questions each.
Some of the questions were on:
*Why do people bully?
*How can we stop bullying?
*What can we do if we see people getting bullied?
*How big is a bully?
*Why does it happen to younger children?
*How long will it last?
We gave advice to people and we hope that it was of use to some of them.
Bullying goes on all around the world and there is a lot we can do to stop it. It is easy to talk to someone and that is the right thing to do. Don't try and put it behind you because at the end of the day it will not go away!
Hi,
I'm Raissa Uwineza and I am an Anti Bullying Counsellor at Malory
School.
On the 15th December 1998 I was at Downham Library all day answering questions on bullying from many young people around Lewisham. We had great fun and it was very good thinking that we were helping someone out there.
Most questions were on:
* Why do people get bullied?
* What to do when bullied.
*How to stop bullying.
* How long will it last?
*Why people bully others?
*Why does it happen to people?
We gave advice to each and every question on the web as well as telling them the consequences of bullying. We also told them how to help their friends in case they have a problem. Bullying goes on around the world and they are many things you can do to stop the bullying.
REMEMBER A BULLY GETS AS BIG AS YOU LET IT BE. SO IF YOU STOP IT THEN IT WON'T GO ANY FURTHER.
