On March 2000 Sybil Phoenix visited Catford Girls School in Bellingham Road. She came into the Phoenix House assembly and showed some of her medals and certificates, she told us about her achievements and she told us about how hard life was. She was born Sybil Marshall on the 21st of June 1927 in British Guyana in the West Indies.

SYBIL ENJOYS RAISING FUNDS FOR A VARIETY OF PROJECTS.

A project most dear to her heart is the MARSHA PHOENIX MEMORIAL TRUST named after her daughter who died in a car accident.

Sybil's most recent fund raising was in JULY, this was in aid of HOMELESSNESS. It took the form of a concert and competition for Lewisham schools. CATFORD GIRLS took part in the concert and also in the poetry competition. Future events include 21st September 2000, HOMELESSNESS LECTURE at DEPTFORD TOWN HALL with guest speakers, MP Joan Ruddock, Sir Herman Ouseley and others.
